Heavy metal concert held at Russian Cultural Center
A rock concert, titled “Rock ‘em All”, was held last Friday, September 20th, 2013 at the Russian Cultural Center (RCC) in the capital’s Dhanmondi area. The concert was organized by Ashes and was coordinated by up-and-coming musician/songwriter Sanam Suhaini Hussain. The concert bill included nine well-known local heavy metal groups; Stentorian, Sent Men Revolt, Self Portrait, Retribution, Green Army, 12 A.M, Arrows Shot, Radiosis and Sporsho.
James Kabir, a distinguished musician and guitar player from the local scene, who also performed alongside his band Stentorian, lent his full support towards managing the event. The concert was dedicated to the city’s more troubled youth groups, with the underlying message that a decent and narcotic-free life was indeed possible for them, while also touching lightly on the environment, in how to keep it sustained and free from any future hazards. The show wrapped up with a vote of thanks by Sanam to the audience-at-large and participating bands for making the show a grand success in getting their message across. General consensus showed that the performance and the ambience of the show were met with positive feedback from the audience, some of whom even interacted with the performers at certain instances during their performances.
The highlight of the night was near-unanimously considered to be the band Stentorian’s explosive comeback into the Dhaka heavy metal scene, performing a mix of both old and unreleased tracks, including “Awdrisho Juddho” and “Bishono Adhar” from their established backlog, and new tracks “Bidae” and “Guitar O Gun.”
